“And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy farther, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the Lord searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee: but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever. Take heed now; for the Lord hath chosen thee to build an house for the sanctuary: be strong, and do it.”
– 1 Chronicles 28: 9-10
As we reflect on the works of Dr. Martin L. King and others of the Civil Rights Movement and again on the upcoming celebration of Black History month—we should consider the words of 1 Chronicles 28: 9-10 (above).
There is no white, or black, or Indian or Asian or any other race or color described. It simply states that: “God searches the heart and understands all the imaginations of the thoughts.” This is how he chooses His people. And if we say that we are his people, then we too must look beyond skin color and tone in our dealings with others.
We should give every man, woman and child a fair chance to succeed, and to use his or her God-given talent, gift, or ability. I believe when we learn to do this—nothing will be impossible to accomplish because everyone will be enabled to do their best without fear of being hindered and will also be free to help others do the same. It IS time for change America. Will it begin in you?
