Do you have a big or difficult project in your life or business that you’ve been putting off tackling because it’s just too big and would take up more time than you have to dedicate to it right now? Putting it off is “a” solution but it may not be the “right” solution.
Consider chipping away at it a little bit at a time. Carving out a few minutes a day to dedicate towards the issue or problem will help you resolve it much sooner than you thought possible. It worked for me when I had a mailbox full of emails! (Well, it’s full again now, but at least I know the method works)
I once had literally thousands of emails in one of my accounts that I probably could have just deleted, but had a mixture of personal and business emails I wanted to sort through before doing so. I initially set aside 10 minutes every evening towards working through that particular account. Here’s how.
- Five minutes I used to delete old, dated emails and five minutes I used to get rid of the new stuff I didn’t need.
- I started forwarding emails from that account to an account that I used all the time. Past the date of forwarding, I could just go in and delete anything new in a few seconds because I already saw it in my other email address and that helped me save time.
- I contacted everyone who needed to know my current email address and asked them to start using that address to reach me.
- I forwarded anything that I wanted to keep to myself at my current address then closed out the account.
It took about three weeks—but the method worked and almost became a ‘search and destroy’ type video game during the process!
You can use this method of dedicating a few minutes towards handling any task. In the end, it will probably save you time and energy; and undue stress from thinking about something you haven’t done but really wanted to do.
