I think “Personalized Education” is going to be the new “School Model”

With Covid still going on, it’s possible that there will be more home schooling, or distance learning.  I’ve spoken on this before; but I’ll talk about it again now.  I believe we really need to rethink how we educate in America.  In my opinion, designer, self-paced, personalized education is going to become the norm.

Acknowledging Reasons to Consider Personalized Education

I agree that there should be national standards. A basic, minimal core of topics should be taught and mastered.  But, the way that they are taught should be subjective. In my opinion, a few things need to be considered.

  • Some schools weren’t that great prior to Covid, in educating students.
  • People often learn in different ways.
  • People catch on to concepts and learning material at different speeds and sometimes it’s better in different settings or learning environments.

Possible Changes to Address Issues

Having said that, I think the ultimate role teachers and instructors will play is that of a coach or counselor to the learning experience.  And, perhaps the brick and mortar school buildings will ultimately serve as high end libraries or centers for socializing and gatherings instead of the main location for instruction.

Welcome to the new school!  It will probably resemble what we now have, but void of actual classrooms.  They’ll become more like the after-school PTA meetings –where parents come in and talk with the teachers about certain things for a few moments before moving on to the next group discussion.

Schools could even become small museum type structures—housing various exhibits pertaining to the local area and consisting of knowledge rooms equipped with slide shows and automated briefings.

Considerations

We have to realize that communicable diseases aren’t the only occurrences that can shut down or stop traditional learning.  Climate change can also play a disruptive role in hindering the learning experience.  So, it would seem best to keep working on improving the distance learning model now, rather wait until the next event to try to pick up where it was left off from the last .

A personalized learning model could afford each student/learner the opportunity to create an environment which best suits them and their circumstances.

I saw this article from Educations.com and thought it was a good resource about Distance Learning.  5 Reasons Why Online Learning is the Future of Education.

What do you think?  Would it be advantageous to continue with distance learning?  What subjects would you think could be helpful in completing the curriculum to prepare learners for the future?

Be Confident In Who You Are; You might not be doing anything wrong.

This is my encouraging word for today… Be. Confident. In. Who. You. Are.  I would venture to say that it’s not always “you’re doing something wrong”. You just haven’t found your tribe; your clique; your team.

“You’re doing something wrong” seems to be the go to answer when others find your actions out of alignment with their thinking and or timing.  Apparently, that statement, and framework of thinking isn’t applied equally towards everyone.  And, if it they were, how few people seem to listen.

In my varied life experiences, I’ve seen people who follow the rules and try to do everything “right” and still don’t seem to progress as much as they desire. Yet, people, who we’ve all wondered “How the hell did they even learn to breathe“; seem to have immeasurable success!

So, what’s really going on?  Maybe, you are doing it right; but, not for the people you are currently dealing with; or the time in which you are dealing with them.  Maybe it’s time to find your clique.  Find the group of folks that appreciate who you are and what you have to offer.  Find a team that you can help and who are willing to help you.  Find the tribe that you can associate with– where you can breathe deeply, and laugh out loud with.   Race, religion, color most likely will have nothing to do with these people.  Because they will be the people who live way beyond those boundaries; and who simply want to win and see others winning in their own right.  No judgement, no fake competition, no stress.   WARNING:  That group might be small, and it may take some time to find them,  but fine them you must!   The next question…. What do you do with everybody else?  Answer:  #GoldenRule, stay praying, and know that they are trying to live their best life too.  #LetsGo  #StayWinning

P.S.  Imma still talk about crazy shit that I see tho 👀😁🤤

Learning How to Be ‘Always Ready’ [a different take on an old post]

During my military days, I was once assigned to a unit who had a motto of, “Always Ready”. (Tish was cool as hell when everyone snapped to attention and yelled it out– …was a lil bit corny tho…) It was a training unit and I believe the ethos behind it was that, as an individual and collective as a unit; we should always be ready to contribute to the accomplishment of the mission.

Therefore, being mentally, and physically prepared and present were essential in meeting goals.  Even during personal crisis, you had a contribution to make.  Now, I wished I learned how to totally apply that to my overall life.  I was great at compartmentalizing as I think many were.  It helped me to displace and set aside the private side of my life to accomplish things on the ‘Soldier’ side.

In reflection, incorporating my entire self might have worked better for me.  For some, separating ‘work life’ from ‘personal/home life’ might work great… but that shit doesn’t work for everybody.  I think I’ll go more into depth about in an eBook, but for now we’ll keep pushing on the concept. (You know I like to keep my posts close to 300 words or less.)

So, the question is, How Do You Become Always Ready? I can say for me, learning about myself helped a lot.  Getting proper rest and exercise also helped.  The last thing I’ll mention here is motivation.  Some people are givers.  If you are one, learn to give that same energy you are willing to give to the job, to yourself.  Doing so might put you on the path to finding happiness.

I hope this helps!  Visit my site often!!

I’m working on a few eBooks as extensions about various topics I’ve posted on! 😉

I am Thankful and Grateful

Recently, I had a thought session.  I was wondering if I could be disappointed, dissatisfied; yet thankful and grateful all at the same time.  And, my conclusive answer is, Yes.  This is how…

First, I am very thankful and grateful to Word/God for life, health, and strength; and the ability and power to do what I must.  At the same time, I recognize the current state and situation that I find myself (which constantly changes).  Sometimes, that leads to frustration, dissatisfaction and disappointment; but, I work hard at NOT murmuring– instead I focus more on being prayerful.

I find that prayer/meditation and supplication, with thanksgiving (as the Bible mentions in Philippians 4:6) takes me outside of my problem and situation and allows me the space to breathe and think; and, in that space, I find peace.

I’ve learned that it is ok to feel and work through your feelings, work through them and still maintain an attitude of gratefulness and thanksgiving.  The process allows me to “Be angry; yet sin not” because in the end, I’m still thankful and grateful.  It’s good to know that I don’t need to be hypocritical or fake in my walk with the Word.  If you are still working things out in your walk of faith, I encourage you to keep pressing, keep believing; keep being thankful and grateful. Selah.

“Don’t Boo. Vote.” Time to Make Moves for 2022.

This is a message to my Progressive circle.  I know the 2020 elections just ended; and are over. But, it ain’t over.  You need to take another vote, mentally.  Stop booing at the two parties and vote with your feet by separating from them.  Don’t ask for permission, don’t argue with them.  Don’t say shit.  Just leave with the full knowledge of knowing that you helped removed Trump, that vulgar grabber; and now you have other matters to attend to. Then go about the business of installing progressives in the House and Senate to do work for the American people.  Think about this… if we challenge both the Republicans and Democrats, and win seats from both, we can create a strong progressive presence in the House and Senate in 2022.  And, frankly, that is actually where the power is and where we need to be.

To start, you don’t have to give yourself a label, or create a party, or do some other thing that will turn out to be busy work to keep Read More
