I Am Enjoying These New Progressive Congress Folk

These new progressive Congress people are the folk I’ve been waiting for; my people!  And, we need more of them.  Sitting back, taking it all in was never the way in my opinion.  Lest we forget, at some point in history, Republicans and Democrats were pretty much interchangeable.

In my opinion, Progressives and so called Democratic Socialists have always had the voice of the people at heart.  I encourage voters to start looking into the politics of these two types of representatives. They seem to be smart, forthright and communicate very clearly about their positions and where they stand.

Frankly it’s disappointing to think that for the past 70 years, we have not gotten any further than we have in economic security, justice or equity in these United States.  We need progressive action that will spring us forward into a new economy and a new way of life.

Keeping black folk down and immigrants out is not the way. And not acknowledging the past is not the way either. Change is coming–and ignoring it is not going to stop anything.

We are in the 21st Century.  There is a lot of work to do and a lot of corrective actions need to be taken.  We, the voting people of America have to effect and affect that change–for the good of all.

This is an exciting time. Let’s make it happen.

Why Are We Acting Like the Confederate South Did Not Lose The Civil War?

The South lost the Civil War.  And we, in America damn well better start acting like they did. I am highly disappointed in the way the current Attorney General Merrick Garland is handling his duties and am wondering why so many people thought he would be such a great pick.  Yet, this article is not about him.

Let’s establish a few things.

  1. Many Blacks were here, and prospering prior to slavery.
  2. We fought in the Civil War against slavery, and won.
  3. The Fourteenth Amendment acknowledges our full citizenship.

And in my opinion, Blacks are not only citizens of the United States, but are also sovereign, and indigenous to this land!  You see it.  Everybody sees it.  And, we all know it’s true.

I think the problem with America is denial.

  • Denial of all things.
  • Denial of things that were done.
  • Denial of things that actually need to be done.
  • Denial of things desired to do.

And for the ‘greatest’ nation on earth, that is a sad commentary, and stifling… just like being in some parts of the south. The good news is, the remedy is so simple and easy.  The branches of government actually need to uphold the spirit of all laws.

The Legislative Branch needs to ensure laws are beneficial for all people.  The Judicial Branch needs to ensure that the laws are equally and equitably applied.  And, the Executive Branch needs to faithfully execute the duties of the Presidency and represent the nation well.

It’s not cute pretending that injustices don’t exist, nor letting inequities happen to black and brown people.  We need to make sure that when representatives are violating the offices and positions they hold, they can be removed swiftly, by the people through an established method of “Recall”.  It was a great surprise to me to find out that some states don’t even have a method of recalling those people sent to Washington to represent them. If the Constitution was written by and for the people, and we vote for the folks we send to Washington, D.C., then we should be able to call those people back, including Judges–Supreme or other.  If that capability is not addressed Constitution or any of its Amendments, then we need to fix it.

Lastly, as much as we, as Americans, like to travel to other places–we really need to get our immigration policies right.    Boom. That’s my rant for today.  Peace .  We outside.

I’m Tired of Political Grifting

I’m tired of political grifting from Republicans.  But, I’m tired of it from Democrats too.  I get more and more emails from organizations supposedly concerned about issues I care about. And at the end of the email or survey, there’s always a “how’s about sending us $5 dollars” pitch.

🤔…How’s about elected officials do their damn jobs, and stop begging for money?  We elect them, pay them, and send them to Washington to vote to pass good legislature for the people–and yet what they seemingly do is fund raise.

If they actually focused on their jobs to write legislature to make things better for workers and regular people–they’d more than likely be re-elected!

Again, they get paid good–decent salaries, are afforded budgets for travel and have excellent health care… and yet, they are still begging for money.  Enough. Of. This. Bullshit.  I don’t know what the damn “political action groups” are for other than further grifting.  I thought that was why we voted. The citizenry has been patiently waiting for politicians to do the right things.  And I know they see the hammer coming down, cause a lot of them are trying to git while the gittin’s good.  But there are others who can’t resist the grifting until there’s nothing left.

I’m hoping 2024 will be the year the people decide it’s time to clean out all the grifters. Because you can’t have good government until you get good or at least decent people running it.  That’s why I’m encouraging everyone to vote wisely and for your interest.

Listen, the government is supposed to be by the people, of the people, and for the people.  I like progressives because through my years of growth and evolution, I’ve noticed they are the ones who at least try to speak for the people.  Like Bernie Sanders, Jamaal Bowman, and Cori Bush.   There are others, but the ones I mentioned are memorable to me for getting active.  And that’s what we need.

I caution voters against people like Krysten Sinema,  Joe Manchin, and Tricia Cotham…and ALL Republicans and conservatives.  You don’t want people who are going to sink or delay good legislature that will help people.  Sure, I believe there is a time and place for some moderation… like in reckless driving, public endangerment (drunk and disorderly conduct, brandishing and intimidating others with an assault rifle) or things like that, but in areas of personal choices –the government should have limitations.

The government should always look out for the interest of the people.   The corporate world will do fine without lacky politicians.  They did well even when the corporate tax rate was over 50%!  Lobbyists are there to do the bidding for corporations.  The elected officials are supposed to be there to represent the people.

So, getting back to the topic of political grifting, there shouldn’t be any–at all.  There should not be any organization sending out emails and text messages to old people asking them for money to keep Congress from cutting their Social Security or other Medicare benefits.  There shouldn’t be police auxiliary organizations calling up people asking for benevolent funds from people they don’t even want or intend to serve.

There shouldn’t be  Veteran support organizations calling asking for funds to “help Veterans” …when the VA SHOULD CLEARLY GET THEIR SHIT TOGETHER IN THE CLAIMS DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE MONEY for injuries veterans say they have suffered from years of service. If anything the VA should have to prove that injuries were not service related instead of the Veteran having to prove that they were.

We pay taxes–in one way or another, for all of these things.  And if the money was actually used for what it was intended instead of slush funds and secret operations, then the country would be a much better place.

Stop grifting and scamming people.  It’s not a good look.  And it’s all slowly going to come crashing down.  There is nothing new under the sun–only lessons to be learned.

Good Job Georgia

Georgia!  You did it.  All of you pulled together to pick a candidate that will hopefully represent the state well.  Now, we in North Carolina need to finish our job as well.  Getting rid of the Republican majority to help Governor Cooper is the best thing we can do.

My philosophy, it is always better to have and not need; than to need and not have.  Conservatives don’t seem to understand that having liberties to do is a good thing.  Therefore, you can choose to do or not to do a thing.  Restricting access to resources always leads to problems, issues, and subverting the law.  And subversion is usually done by the very people who put the laws in place.

I applaud you for you actions and for the courage you all have shown in overcoming roadblocks Republicans and conservatives intended for your downfall.

…Now if Florida and the rest of the south could…

The Reason I Talk Junk about Democrats is Because, I Want Them to Do Better

I want Democrats to do so much better than they have done over the past 40 years. From what I’ve seen from the majority of Democrats is the willingness to fight against #Progressives and others who might be to the left of them. But that same energy does not exist in fights with Republicans.

They are more apt to try to prove their conservatism than to show a willingness to vote for progressive legislation for the American people. And then comes the handwringing.

If you learn nothing more, nor do anything else—leave Progressives alone. There is a reason I am no longer a Democrat or Republican. I am not a fan of the two-party modal. It is disturbing to see progressive candidates vilified. I’m also sad to see Progressives and Independents run as Democrats. Please stop. The primaries is technically your time to shine. Even if Republicans and Democrats don’t want to give you oxygen in their rooms, take it! Get online. Use all the social medias. Ask your supporters for a ‘post’ or a ‘re-post’ instead of just going for the cash.

What candidates want and need is traction. A re-blog or a re-post would both encourage the supporter to learn more about the candidate and show support for the candidate. Two years until the next election, use every second wisely.

For the record, some of these people in the Democratic Party lost their race in 2022 because people didn’t know where they stood. A Democratic Republican look-a-like isn’t worth electing for many.
