Growing Your Own Food Might be Worth the Time Investment

Last year, I tried an experiment to see how hard it would be to grow my own plants and food.  I got some supplies from Amazon… (growing medium, jar cups, and rocks) and other supplies locally… (soil, pots, etc.).  It wasn’t as hard as I anticipated to start the project—but the effort came in being consistent and knowing what to do as the plants began to grow.  If you travel or are out of the house a lot, and won’t have anyone to look after the plants to water or care for them, you may want to have them outside, where they can work with nature to fend for themselves.

You don’t have to “watch” the plants as much as having to “monitor” them.  I chose not to initially plant anything directly in the ground because I wanted to see how hard it was to have a portable garden. Pots and planters are easy to move around and can either be grouped together or placed in certain areas according to the amount of sunlight needed.

Growing your own fruits and veggies can really be a confidence booster as well as help save on your food bill. I encourage you to explore this as a hobby and then maybe become a serious gardener.  Things are changing in the world and having additional survival skills is a game changer.

As you may know, I usually don’t go into depth on my posts, but I do try to provide links or resources for you to do your own follow up or research.  So, check the link below and happy planting!

The ol’ Guacamole – Wasabi Trick

…for some odd reason, I thought the menu said something about a fish sandwich instead of sushi, but it was still good.  And that green stuff, lol… (for some reason) I thought was “guacamole”…  My bad. -_- Surprise! that “wasabi” was so hot, it made my head itch… inside! lol. …I need to pay closer attention; and get out more.

Oh yeah, check out my other social media platforms too if you get a chance. Cool pics and content.

Spring is starting up and in Ohio, so are the festivals.  I’ve been in Columbus for a few weeks now, and I must say it’s been a very nice experience catching up with my son, his wife and grands.  Yep, I’m a ‘pop-pop’… og style.  😉

So, with the warmer days showing up every now and then, I was wondering what things went on in the state during the spring.  As it turns out, Ohio has several ‘Avant-Garde’, trade and craft shows happening starting in March.

The link to the page that contains dates, locations, telephone numbers for a few of the festivals we found is: <Here>  Upcoming Ohio Festivals .

Some of the events listed are below:

Healthier Eating: The Boiled Egg Sandwich

What count’s as healthier eating?  I guess any change is good–even small ones.  For me, it was a boiled egg and cheese sandwich sometimes instead of a fried egg and cheese sandwich.  It was actually surprisingly good.  It was fresh and felt lighter on my stomach.  So basically I cut up a boiled egg into slices and laid them out on a slice of bread and added a little salt and pepper; covered by a single slice of cheese.

boiled egg and cheese sandwichI also heated it slightly to melt the cheese and wow, very good.  I’ve also replaced sodas at large with a carbonated flavored water in a can. The cranberry and blackberry flavors are the best I think.

Little changes like this could lead to healthy gains for you over time.  You’re putting yourself in a place where you can still enjoy the things you like only in a healthier dose.  Enjoy!

Side note:  I’m a Flexitarian. 🙂  At this point in life commitment issues are real. lol

Everyone Should Have An Emergency Slice of Pizza

blue box with pizza in it

…so forget about the donuts you see on the left and the fried egg in the background on the right as you’re in the kitchen looking for snacks. Don’t let those distract you.  Focus on the blue box with the single slice of pizza.  Put one in a blue box just like this and tuck it on the left side on the second shelf in the fridge.   I say, Let that become the standard all across America.  In these troubled times, we need something of consistency and I say, let it be pizza.

It could possibly save your life late at night when you’re starving and don’t know quite what you want to eat.  It’s good hot or cold and can last for days.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack…it doesn’t matter.  Pizza is always good.  😉
