“Don’t Take It Personal”… Really?

Have you ever had someone tell you “Don’t take it personal”?  My response is, How can I not?

You are personally talking to me.  I am the one standing in front of you. I am the one you are addressing.  So, if we are being real, I think it’s a cop out to say “Don’t take it personal”.  Because, they probably don’t want to address what is coming as reciprocation.

I’ve heard the term used especially in business.  As if, them, adding that little jewel of a phrase, is going to emotionally detach you.  No, sir… It was me personally putting in the time, thought and effort into doing whatever it was that needed to be done, so I am personally invested.

As a matter of fact, it is my belief that everything we do is “personal” … that’s why when someone offends you, or says or does something that you don’t agree with, you want them to take “Personal Responsibility“.

So, please– speak your truth, but don’t try to patronize or belittle the situation by dismissing the personal.  You said what you said, or did what you did… So now, just be prepared for the follow up.

Peace and blessings.

“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” –St. John 4:24

I wanted to write about this verse, but initially, I was stumped.  Jesus had said it all.  Then the question came to me, “What is a spirit?”  …so I looked it up.

One definition of the word spirit is: ‘the nonphysical part of a person that is the seat of emotions and character, the soul.’  That’s beautiful right?

After reading the definition, it reminded me of why we should Read More

Ecclesiastes Chapter 3: Seasons

Ecclesiastes, Chapter 3…Talks about seasons.  And for me, it was deep reading. Of the many chapters and verses in the Bible, these are amongst the most profound.

Both poetic and timeless, these scriptures are forever applicable in the everyday life of Man. “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven…” –the chapter starts. Right away, as a reader, I feel that there is a purpose for my current circumstance—good or bad.

The next few verses are soothing Read More
